Denmark's Queen Margrethe II saw the tensile strength testing and steel constructions.

In connection with the Danish Royal Family's summer cruise and visit to Nakskov in June 2016, Queen Margrethe II visited the old shipbuilding halls.

East Metal has a base here and this gave the company a chance to explain how it has breathed new life into the harbour's business community. Since 2013, East Metal has transformed the old production halls so that, once again, they now buzz with life.

East Metal is a subcontractor to the machine industry and today there are three areas that benefit especially from East Metal's competences and presence: The wind turbine industry, the transport and heavy lifting sector and the machine industry.

Large, complex products can be manufactured, and East Metal's CEO Bent Juul Larsen could report how the Nakskov plant has contributed to new generations of offshore wind turbines, as well as the equipment used to transport and install these. The last new initiative is the company's test centre, where it is possible to perform load tests on load bearing structures and heavy lifting gear for loads of up to 1500 tonnes.

Queen Margrethe II visited the plant and asked some very insightful questions regarding the origins of the centre. East Metal has designed the plant itself, but has also made use of expertise in load calculations, hydraulics, management and safety, so that the centre is now an absolute leader in this area.

The Queen also heard more about the comprehensive project and quality control which every single project must go through, from production start until handover to the customer.
